How To Draw and Paint Drawgirl
Step 21

This Drawgirl tutorial continues as I explain the illustrated twenty-first step of the pastel portrait painting.

The so-called "white" of the eye is placed, leaving the iris the model's flesh tone color for now. It is not really white but an off-white or a light gray. Since they have served their purpose, the act of smudge blending the construction lines surrounding the eye cavity effectively causes them to disappear as well as darkens the area nicely. Finally, the pink shelf of the lower eyelid is smeared into place. The model's eyelashes are not rendered at this stage. And when you do depict them in a later step, you will do so ever so sparingly for you do not want her to look like she has spiders coming out of her eyes. More on that in due time.

Your coloring process continues still in... Step 22.
